Mary Ruth Funderburk Harrison, of Blythewood, went home to be with her Lord and Savior and reunited with her beloved husband on November 23, 2018. Born on October 11, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ruth Funderburk, and the widow of the late Howard C. Harrison, Jr. She was the loving mother of Deborah Harrison Sheffield (David) and Howard "Ty" Harrison III (Diane), and the doting grandmother of Matthew Harrison, Mary Sheffield and Charley Sheffield. She was also the beloved sister of Larry Funderburk and Clarene Hourihan. She graduated from Dentsville High School (1954) and the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing (1957). The core of Miss Mary's life was her love for her family and her heartbeat for caregiving. She was born with a soul committed to caring for others, and she served as a registered nurse at the Baptist Hospital for almost 50 years where she was fondly known as "Miss Mary." She was a member of Sandy Level Baptist Church, and a former member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church.

The graveside service for Mrs. Harrison will be held 1 o'clock, Tuesday, November 27th at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens, 2603 Two Notch Road, Columbia. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall of Crescent Hill Baptist, 2659 Two Notch Road, Columbia. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
