Mary Louise Cooper, 79, of Blythewood, formerly of Baltimore, MD, died on Sunday, March 1, 2026. Born in Chase, MD, on April 13, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Purnell Sedgwick and Helen Lovely Cooper Pitts. Ms. Cooper spent her career caring for others in her beloved profession of Nursing. Outside of work and before her health decline, she enjoyed playing baseball, football and cards. She had a gentle, sweet and warm personality that always made her presence welcome. Mrs. Cooper lived her life with the "Glass Half Full" approach, and, though her health had declined in recent years, she always remained positive and supportive of her family.
Survivors include her son, Urian Frederick Brown, of MD; daughter, Nicole Nelson (Nick), of Blythewood, SC; grandchildren, Talesha Anderson Dunbar (R.J.), Nick Nelson, Jr. (Libby) and Nya Nelson; great-grandchildren, Nick Nelson, III and Lorelei P. E. Nelson; as well as niece and nephew, Toya J. King and Troy A. Cooper; and a host of other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Velma Jean Cooper.
A graveside service for Ms. Cooper will be held in Holly Hill Memorial Gardens, 10201 Bird River Rd, Baltimore, MD 21220. Arrangements are under the care of Shives Funeral Home, Columbia, SC, and William C. Brown Community Funeral Home, P.A., Baltimore, MD.
