Obituary

Mary Louise Campbell Cook Smith, 92, of Cayce, was called home to her Lord and Savior Wednesday, December 30, 2015 and is now resting high on that mountain. Born August 27, 1923 in Belton-Honea Path, SC, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Campbell Cook and Stokie Knox Cook. Mrs. Smith attended Logan School on Elmwood Avenue and worked for Dr. Gibson at Economy Drug Store in Five Points which is now Yesterday's Restaurant as well as Eckerd's Drugs. She loved country music, dancing, cooking, working in her vegetable garden and yard, but most of all, caring for her family. Mrs. Smith enjoyed the First Baptist Church television ministry each Sunday.

Survivors include her children, Roy Alvin Smith, Carl D. Smith, Glenn E. Smith (Pat), Mark D. (Sandi) Smith; daughters, Mary Louise (Bennie) Paxton, Paula Baker, Deborah D. Potter and Cathy S. (Phil) Burgess as well as 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Manley LeRoy Smith; a son, Robert Anthony Smith; and brother, Edward H. Cook.

A funeral service will be held 3 o'clock, Sunday, January 3rd at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road, Ext., Columbia. Interment will follow in The Kelly Cemetery on Kathwood Road. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2 o'clock.
