Mary Jourdan McCabe Asay, 90, of Columbia, widow of the late Donald Edward Asay, Sr., died Friday, March 7, 2014. Born in Columbia, SC, on February 1, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Lillie Jourdan and John McCabe. She attended the Columbia schools. She retired as school secretary for New Jersey schools where she and Don lived before her retirement. Mrs. Asay was a member of St. Michael and All Angels' Episcopal Church.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Donald E. Asay, Jr. and Donna of Lexington, KY, and John McCabe "Mac" Asay and Carol of Camden; sister, Lillie McCabe Long and husband, Richard F. Long, of Columbia; five grandchildren, Allison Duvall and husband, Clay, Michael and Connor Asay of Kentucky; John McCabe and wife, Margaret, of Columbia, Lauren and Chris Campbell of Camden; and four great grandchildren.
The memorial service for Mrs. Asay will be held 10 o'clock, Monday, March 10th, at St. Michael and All Angels' Episcopal Church, 6408 Bridgewood Rd, Columbia, with The Rev. Jill Zook-Jones officiating. There will be a reception for family and friends following the service at 11 o'clock.
