Mrs. Mary Skinner Tichy, 97, of Columbia, S.C., formerly of Hendersonville, N.C., passed away on November 13, 2016. She was born May 1, 1919 in West Virginia to the late Cecil and Blanda Stonecipher. Mrs. Tichy was past president of the Pine Garden Club and retired from Sears after 30 years of service. As the mother of three boys, she was an avid sports fan – especially Duke basketball.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Wallace G. Skinner, Sr., second husband, Rudolph J. Tichy, and son, William Michael Skinner. She is survived by her children, Wallace G. Skinner, Jr. (Jane) of LaGrange, Ga. and Gary F. Skinner (Mary) of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; daughter-in-law, Weesie Skinner of Columbia; six grandchildren, Wallace G. Skinner, III, Merritt H. Shelton, Matthew Skinner, Jennifer Davis, Michael Skinner and Samuel Skinner; six great grandchildren; a sister, Margaret S. Thomas of Hendersonville, N.C., as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be held 2 o'clock, Thursday, November 17th in Smith Chapel of The First Presbyterian Church, 1422 Washington Street, Columbia, with interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The Rev. L. Craig Wilkes will officiate. Visitation with the family will be in the Atrium of Jackson Hall, prior to the service, beginning at 1 o'clock.
