Mattie Elizabeth Fulmer Branham, of Blythewood, SC, transitioned to her heavenly home on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. She was born on July 28, 1937 and was the daughter of the late Reamer Odell and Katie Hood Fulmer. Mattie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and a faithful member of Killian Baptist Church.
A graduate of Blythewood High School, Mattie married the love of her life, Curtis Branham, on May 30, 1959. She began her career as an administrative assistant and later spent many years as a homemaker. After her children were older, she returned to the workforce, serving several local churches as an administrative assistant until her retirement.
As an active member of Killian Baptist Church, Mattie served in many capacities, including as a nursery and children's worker, church clerk, WMU volunteer, and Senior Adult and Hostess committee member. She enjoyed trips with the Senior Adults as well as those with the youth group. She was also an active member of the Lioness Club and Gideons International Auxiliary. She enjoyed volunteering with the SC WMU for many years and attending Missionary Parents fellowships.
In addition to her husband, Mattie is survived by her children, Tony (Dorcas) Branham, Cathy (Steve) Warren, Carl (Michelle) Branham, and Teresa (Ted) Xanthakis; grandchildren, Ryan (Jenna) Warren, Katie (Andrew) Royson, Logan Branham, Daniel (Grace) Branham, Caleb (Bailey) Branham, Kinzey Branham, Noah and Michael Xanthakis, and one great-granddaughter, Ransom Warren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Linda Fulmer.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the wonderful caregivers, especially Evet from McLeod Home Care, Chelsea and Dot and the team from Prisma Hospice and Home Health for their kindness, support, and care.
The graveside service for Mrs. Branham will be held at 2 o'clock on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Killian Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Ben Newman officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 4 until 6 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
