Max Edwin Blount Sr., 90, of Columbia, died Tuesday, August 24, 2021. Born in Sandersville, GA, he was a son of the late Thomas Hodges and Donnie Jeanette Tanner Blount and married to Madeline Amerson Blount for 58 years. Max served in the Army National Guard and the U.S. Navy. He retired from United Insurance Co. Afterwards, he spent his time enjoying his grandkids and playing golf at Northwoods Golf Course where he worked as a ranger. Max attended North Trenholm Baptist Church and was a member of The Bowen Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife and children, Tammie Hunter (Tim), Jackie Messerschmidt (Brian), Terri Blount (Arron); his grandchildren: Sara Hunter, Nicole Styron (Travis), Andrea Anclade (Brian), Link Hunter (Lydia). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Max Edwin Blount, Jr.
A service will be held at 12:00pm, Friday, August 27th, at North Trenholm Baptist Church, 6515 North Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC 29206, with the Rev. David Knapp and Rev. Joe Copeland officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The burial will follow the service in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. For those who cannot attend, the service can be seen on the Shives Funeral Home website.
