Melody Styles Carpenter, 49, of Glen Allen, VA, formerly of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015. Born in Columbia on December 4, 1965, she was a daughter of Miriam Ruth Sloan Styles and the late George Styles.

Survivors include her husband, Russell Carpenter; two daughters, Amber (Quinton) Swank and Kaitlyn Carpenter; mother, Ruth Styles; brothers, Dwayne (Marcella) Styles, Stephen (Debbie) Styles, sister-in-law, Audrey (Nate) Johnson. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Styles.

The service will be held at 3 o'clock, Tuesday, January 13th at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery, 1008 Old Sloan Road, Columbia. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock, Monday evening at the funeral home.
