Melonie D. Messer, 66, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024. Born on October 2, 1958, in Rapid City, South Dakota, she was the daughter of Perry Carter Ellis and Iris Gerladine Lakin Ellis. Mrs. Messer enjoyed supporting her local law enforcement agencies, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Richland County Citizens Academy.

Survivors include her grandson, John Michael Glenn of Columbia and sister, Candace Ann Bender of Cayce. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Messer; son, John Lockwood Glenn, IV; sister, Sharon Celeste McDuffie, and brother-in-law, John Michael Bender.

The funeral service for Mrs. Messer will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday, November 9th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext, Columbia. The burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 7100 Garners Ferry Rd, Columbia.

The family will receive guests prior to the service beginning at 9 o'clock.
