Michael J. Brown, Jr., 40, of Columbia, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Born in San Francisco, CA on October 15, 1974 he was the son of Michael J. Brown, Sr. and Beatrice Powell Brown. Michael was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and graduate of AC Flora High School where he played on the golf team. He was a certified EMT, and worked as assistant superintendent of Charwood Country Club for many years, he also worked at the Fort Jackson Golf Course. Michael loved God's earth, golf and the outdoors. He was a dedicated caregiver for his parents who have many health challenges.

In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by a sister, Victoria "Tori" Brown; niece, Mariah Merckle; as well as extended family in Washington State, California and Iowa.

A service will be held at 11 o'clock, Friday, May 1st at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with The Rev. Paul Wollner and The Rev. Kris Litman-Koon officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10 o'clock. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3909 Forest Drive, Columbia, SC 29204. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
