Michael (Mike) Jeffrey Elkins, 64, of Columbia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. Born in Bluefield, WV, on July 18, 1958, he was the son of the late Bill and Eula Hubbard Elkins. He served in the United States Air Force and worked for the federal government until retirement. Mike was a member of Northeast Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon for many years. He never knew a stranger and considered everyone a friend. Mike was a loyal and humble man with a servant's heart for the Lord and his family.

Mike is survived by his wife, Erin McDade Elkins; son, Michael Kyle Elkins (Ally); daughter, Mary Kathryn Elkins; grandsons, Michael Titus Elkins and David Hunter Elkins; brother, Les Elkins (Sue); sisters, Sherry Shirley, Kim Ryan (Tom), Kristi Weeks; as well as brother-in-law, Larry Keith and Linn Watson; sisters-in-law, Fran Burke Angel, Nancy Billard, Gail McNeelege (Glenn) and Michelle McDade. He is also survived by several close nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Debbie Keith; brothers-in-law Keith Shirley, Evan Angel, Frank Billard; and sister-in-law, Sharon Watson.

The service for Mr. Elkins will be held at 1 o'clock on Saturday, May 13th, at Northeast Presbyterian Church, 601 Polo Road, Columbia, 29223. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 12 o'clock in the Atrium of the church. Burial will follow the service in the churchyard. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.

The family extends many heartfelt thanks to Dr. Charles Butler, Dr. Benjamin Jones, Dr. Jeremy Crisp, Dr. Shant Thomassian, and several other medical staff that treated Mike throughout his journey with cancer.
