Mike O'Daniel, 67, of Columbia, died Tuesday, September 6, 2022. Born February 27, 1955, in Columbia, SC, he was a son of the late William Quincy and Harriet Turner O'Daniel.

Mike's childhood was spent in Georgia and South Carolina. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina and later attended the University of Georgia for post graduate coursework. For many years, Mike was employed as an architectural hardware consultant with various companies throughout the United States. During his career he had the opportunity to live in many regions of the United States where he made many valuable friendships. He enjoyed spending time in the mountains, camping, fishing, music, and playing his drums. He was an advocate for animals, adopting many dogs throughout his life. Mike will be remembered for his outgoing personality and ability to never meet a stranger. He was a devoted member of Greenlawn Baptist Church in Columbia.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy O'Daniel; stepsons, Adam Penny (Christalynn) and Christopher Penny; grandchildren, Willa Penny and Rowan Penny; sisters, Donna O'Daniel and Stephanie Ballard; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

The memorial service for Mr. O'Daniel will be held at 1 o'clock, Saturday, September 17th, at Greenlawn Baptist Church, 6612 Garners Ferry Rd, Columbia, SC 29209. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church beginning at 12 o'clock noon.

Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
