Michael L. Taylor, 41, of Blythewood, died Tuesday, April 27, 2021. Born November 11, 1979, in Columbia, SC to Dorothy Hammond and raised by his loving father, John Hammond. Michael was blessed with a large family. His father, James Sanders, and stepmother, Edith Sanders, loved him dearly.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Hunter Taylor; sister, Michelle Yarchuk (Matt) and their children, Shyenne, Shayne, Sianna, Michael, and Carson; brother, Marc Taylor and his children, Ethan, Erik, and Elayna; sister, Chassidy Whitt (Danny) and their children, Destini and Emily; brothers, Jonathan Sanders, James Sanders, Jr., Mark Sanders, Shawn Sanders, Jake Reynolds; sisters, Michelle Self and Stephanie Reynolds, along with an additional 11 nieces and nephews and one great nephew.

Michael had a sunny disposition and a heart of gold. He was a gentle giant that truly loved life. To know Mike was to have a friend. He always placed family and friends first. Mike loved all things Gamecocks and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. His love for his son, Hunter, will always beam down from Heaven. Mikes sweet soul will be missed by all his loved ones.

The funeral service for Michael will be held 2 o'clock Sunday, May 2nd at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC with Pastor Jimmy Burrows officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbia, 9301 Wilson Blvd, Columbia, SC.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 1 o'clock.
