Michael D. Thompson, Jr., 69, of Lugoff, died Wednesday, August 8, 2018. Born June 20, 1949 in Austell, GA and was raised at Epworth Children's Home. He was a member of Spears Creek Baptist Church, where he served on many committees, as well as assisting with the Rejoicers. Mr. Thompson's greatest calling was to give away bibles and spread the word of salvation to everyone he met. He always spoke from the heart and will be deeply missed. Mr. Thompson was the owner of Thompson Clearing and Grading, contracted by Great Southern Homes.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Deannette Disbrow Thompson; a daughter, Crystal Thompson Coley (Jeremy); seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Andy Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael D. Thompson, IV; and a sister, Marie Risher.

The service for Mr. Thompson will be held 4 o'clock, Sunday, August 12th at Spears Creek Baptist Church, with Pastor Greg Sweet officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
