Mrs. Mildred Norton Brittain, 98, of Columbia, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015. Born February 1, 1916 in Highlands, NC, she was a daughter of the late Elliotte Nathan Norton and Edith Rogers Norton.

A loving, caring wife, and faithful member of St. John's Episcopal Church, she is survived by a sister, Ann Pearce of Gainsville, GA; several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; along with numerous nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Brittain; sons, Taylor Arthur Brittain and William G. Brittain, Jr.; brothers, Elliotte Taylor Norton and Robert Lee Norton; and sisters, Gracie Norton, Martha Coeman, Essie Galloway, and Louise Owen.

A funeral service for Mrs. Brittain will be held 12 o'clock, Friday, January 23rd, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 2827 Wheat Street, Columbia, with The Rev. Scott R. Fleischer officiating. A reception will follow in Hayward Hall. Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Columbia. Memorials may be made to Epworth Children's Home, 2900 Millwood Ave., Columbia, SC, 29205.
