Mildred Stevenson Lomas, 94, of Columbia, died Saturday, April 16, 2016. Born December 28, 1921, in Darlington, she was a daughter of the late Bright L. and Edna Staton Stevenson.
A member of Fair Lawn United Methodist Church, she was the epitome of a southern genteel lady, a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all around her.
Survivors include her children, Christie Lomas (Carolyn), Alida Plunkett (Bill), Edwin Lomas (Deborah Hall Lomas), and Wade Lomas (Carla). Also surviving are a sister, Iris Waters; half-brothers, Robert, Jimmy and John Stevenson and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Blake Lomas, Mildred was preceded in death by a son, Steve Lomas; and a brother and four sisters.
The funeral service for Mrs. Lomas will be held 1 o'clock, Tuesday, April 19th, at Fair Lawn United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., from 5 until 7 o'clock.
