Molly Stokes Brown, 86, of Columbia, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022. Born on April 21, 1936, in Camden, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late David Kershaw Stokes and Annie Bell Smith Stokes. Molly was a dedicated member of Capital City Baptist Church in Columbia, where she taught for over 30 years as a Sunday school teacher.

Molly was the loving wife to Olin McKinley Brown; the high school sweethearts shared a long, successful marriage of 64 years together. She took pride in being a great mother and military spouse. Her family and friends remember her fondly for her famous fried chicken and homemade biscuits. Molly enjoyed reading the bible, puzzles, and gardening. She was a beautiful soul, that never met an enemy and touched the lives of those she crossed.

She is survived by her son, Joel Brown (Jean); daughter, Wendy Brown Higgins (Troy); grandchildren, Joshua Brown, Alex Brown, Gavin Brown, Hunter Sanders (Arron); Lacie Sanders (Cooper), Zachary Higgins, Sari Shryack (Lincoln), and Abby Trujillo (Dominick); many great-grandchildren; and brother, William Marion "Bo" Stokes (Ann). In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by siblings, Margaret Elizabeth Stokes (Bill), Dr. David Kershaw Stokes, Jr., Cecil LeRoy Stokes, Clarence Odell Stokes, Annie Marie Stokes Bell, and George Donald Stokes; and daughter-in-law, Sherry Walters Brown.

The funeral service for Mrs. Brown will be held at 11 o'clock on Wednesday, July 27th at Capital City Baptist Church, 2243 Percival Road, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10 o'clock. Burial to follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the church.
