MSG Larry Daniel Sparks, US Army (Ret.), 78, of Columbia, died peacefully at home, Friday, March 6, 2020. Born April 6, 1941 in Wharton, WV, he was a son of the late Cash and Opal Vint Sparks. Larry was retired from the US Army and was a loving husband and father.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Mae Steven Sparks; daughter, Cynthia Hatchell; son, Timothy Dewayne Sparks; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Sue Price; and brothers, Baul Sparks and Adam Sparks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry Daniel Sparks, Jr.

A graveside service with full military honors for MSG Sparks will be held 12 o'clock, Thursday, March 12th, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia. The family will greet friends briefly following the service. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
