MSG Lonnie Thomas Turner, US Army (Ret.), died Friday, November 26, 2021. Born April 17, 1936 in Britton's Neck, SC, he was a son of the late Clifton and Lottie Richardson Turner. MSG Turner was a US Army veteran who proudly served his country for more than 20 years. Following his distinguished military career, he was employed by the civil service at Fort Jackson Civil Issue Point. MSG Turner enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing trips to the Santee Lakes.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Linda Strachan Turner; daughters, Stacy Pearson of Lexington, SC and Kelli Sullivan (Chris) of Indianland, SC; grandson, Colin Pearson of Lexington, SC; as well as his siblings, Tommy, James, Betty, Sylvia, and Elsie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Carlisle and Junior.
The graveside service for MSG Turner will be held 3 o'clock, Monday, November 29th at Elmwood Cemetery, 501 Elmwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29201.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 o'clock prior to the graveside service at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, SC 29203.
