MSGT Benjamin Addison, Jr., US Air Force (Ret.), 64, of Columbia, died Wednesday, April 8, 2020. Born August 4, 1955, in Jersey City, NJ, he was the oldest of 10 children of the late Edward Benjamin Addison and Susie Mae Parsons Addison. MSGT Addison honorably served his country for 24 years in the US Air Force. During his enlistment, he received many commendations and was a Gulf War Veteran. Following his military career, he worked in loss prevention for Walmart. MSGT Addison loved his entire family very much and especially enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughter, Diana Crystal Addison; grandchildren, Kiara Simone Morgan, Imani Shauncye Boykin, and Jazmyn Sinaii Boykin; siblings, Debra Jordan (Darrell), Linda Cotton (Jonathan), Vincent Addison (Cynthia), Donna Powell, Cametra Cotton (Darryl) , Mark Addison (Marcella), Stacey Paul, and Cheryl Law (Chico); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Matthew Addison.
In light of the recent Novel COVID-19 virus, a service for MSGT Addison will be held at a later date followed by burial at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with full military honors.
Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family and will announce further plans.
