MSgt Robert George Studwell, US Air Force (Ret.), 81, of Hopkins, SC, died on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. MSgt Studwell was born on April 19, 1944, in Port Chester, New York, a son of the late Charles Gilbert Studwell and Dorothy Helen Mayer Studwell. He honorably served his country for over 20 years in the US Air Force. During his enlistment, he received many awards and commendations for his valor. Following his military career, MSgt Studwell was employed by the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 2009. He enjoyed playing billiards, fishing, woodworking, and carpentry. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending quality time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Studwell; sons, Robert E. Studwell (Jennifer) of Camden, SC and Chris G. Studwell of Spartanburg, SC; daughters, Lisa Poe (Ed) of Oklahoma City, OK and Mavi Saugon of Hopkins, SC; grandchildren, Joshua Tarte, Robert Bryce Studwell, and Rylee Studwell; as well as his sisters, Marlene Calvert and Diane Gallagher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hye Yon Chong Studwell, and his daughter, Kim Yon Studwell.
The graveside service for MSgt Studwell will be held at 12 o'clock, Thursday, May 15th, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd, Columbia.
The family will receive guests prior to the service beginning at 10:30 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC.
