Myrna Rodriguez de Abadie, 88, of Columbia, formerly of Ponce, Puerto Rico, died Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Born October 31, 1931 in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Jose Antonio Rodriguez and Adela Ruiz de Rodriguez.
Raised in Puerto Rico, Myrna as a child enjoyed riding paso fino horses. She was best friends with her late brother Jose Antonio "Junior" Rodriguez. Myrna was a very accomplished young lady. She graduated 1st honor from Guayanilla High School and went on to college at age 14 becoming a member of the Women's auxiliary ROTC of the University of Puerto Rico where she graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting. While working at the Commonwealth Oil Refinery Company "CORCO" she met her future husband, Ray M. Abadie. Once their three children where in school she furthered her education by attending the Catholic University of Puerto Rico where she earned her Juris Doctorate. Myrna spent her career helping the poor by practicing family law at Legal Services of Puerto Rico.
Survivors include her children, Ray Francois Abadie (Patricia); Denise Elizabeth England (Richard) and Myrna Gertrude "Trudy" Mendia (Victor); grandchildren, Westley Abadie, Brittany Knighton (Jai) and Mitchell England, Sophia Mendia; and a sister, Eglee Rodriguez. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Maurice Abadie.
A Funeral Liturgy of The Word Outside of Mass will be held 9 o'clock, Monday, June 8, 2020 with Deacon Ron Anderson officiating. A private burial will follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The service for Mrs. Rodriguez will be live streamed and may be view by visiting
