Myrtice Martin Miller, 95, wife of the late Ernest L. Miller, of Columbia, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012. Born October 14, 1917 in Atlanta, GA, she was a daughter of the late Frederick Roger and Cora Belle Turner Martin. Myrtice loved life and adored her family and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly. Her love of tennis led her to join a tennis organization at St. Andrews Park, through which she made many close and lasting friends. She continued to play on a regular basis until 2000, when arthritis made it impossible for her to hold a racquet. She was a member of Eau Claire Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Michael M. Miller, R. Patrick Miller (Dolly), and J. Mark Miller; daughter, Judy J. Dease (Don); grandchildren, Chris and Dr. Catherine Miller, Laura and Jeff Smoak, Alison and David Turner, Shannon and Chuck Hagood, Jim Miller, Lee and Amy Miller, Johnny and Shawnna Johnson, Randy and Kelly Johnson, Jessica and Eric Monts; 19 great-grandchildren, all of whom called her "Gracie"; sister, Dorothy Storey (Louie), and 7 nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of 37 years, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred Thoming.

A funeral service to celebrate Myrtice's life will be held at 1 o'clock, Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Eau Claire Baptist Church, with the Rev. James A. Goudelock officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12 o'clock. Memorials may be made to the Eau Claire Baptist Church, 4427 N Main St, Columbia, SC 29203. Shives Funeral Home is assisting the family.
