Nadine Byrd Kelly, 91, of Columbia (formerly of Blythewood), died Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Born in Columbia, SC, on April 8, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ruth Shelley Byrd. Mrs. Kelly graduated from Davis High School and attended the University of South Carolina. She taught adult education classes, quilting, and basic oil painting for many years. Mrs. Kelly was a member of Park Street Baptist Church for more than 70 years, where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years.

Surviving are her sons, Edward Gene Kelly, Paul S. Kelly (Linda), James B. Kelly (Deborah); daughters, Shelley Ann Kelly and Salley Bagley (Dennis); grandchildren, April, Amanda and Jena Kelly and Dana Davis (Bruce); great grandchildren, Noah and Emry Jo Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward I. Kelly.

The service for Mrs. Kelly will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Friday, April 27th at Park Street Baptist Church, with The Rev. Jay Black officiating. Burial will follow in Kelly Family Cemetery, 1520 Kathwood Drive, Columbia. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning in the sanctuary at 10:30 a.m. Members of the Ready Sunday School Class are invited to serve as honorary pallbearers. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
