Nan Rogers Stafford, 88, widow of Vernon Eugene "Gene" Stafford, died Thursday, January 24, 2019. Born in Columbia on July 7, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Franklin Rogers and Betty Lynn Neal Rogers.
Nan was gracious, giving, and was a mother to many. She loved to cook and be with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and fur babies. Nan looked forward to the day she would be reunited with her late husband.
She is survived by her children, Linda Stafford Pierson (Blair) of Beaufort; Lester Eugene Stafford of Sumter; Betty Lynn Helms of Columbia, and her children, Jason Stone, (Ellie and Archer), David Helms (Amber), Elizabeth Helms (Sidney), (Brooklyn and Bryson); Mary Stafford of Columbia; as well as numerous other grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and two brothers, W. Ray Rogers of Chapin and Monroe Rogers (Betty) of West Columbia. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Her memorial service will be held 4 o'clock Monday, January 28th, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Blythewood, SC.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Mary Stafford, Sunday, January 27th, from 4 until 7 o'clock and also following the service at the church. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
