Louise Whitaker Hill, 92, of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. Born in Boxelder, Texas, on August 5, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Shelby and Madge Roden Whitaker. Louise was the loving wife of 58 years to Grayon D. Hill.

Louise attended Marshall County High School, Guntersville, AL. Louise was a fulltime homemaker until she pursued a career as a Quality Control Inspector. She retired from Martin Marietta in 1993. Louise enjoyed shopping trips, reading, entertaining guests and had a great love of dancing. Although her greatest joy in life was her family. She took great pride in being a homemaker and had a talent for cooking especially desserts and fried okra. She was also known for her quick wit. Louise was a kind loving soul that never met a stranger.

Survivors include her children, Geneva Neeriemer (Bill), David Hill, and Stan Hill (Marianne); grandchildren, Will Neeriemer (Allyson), Ann Neeriemer, Adam Hill (Kristin) and Lucy Cannon (Adam); She was blessed with 5 great-grandaughters, Emily, Claire, Addison, Maren and Simi and 3 great-grandsons, Isaac, Grayon and Gray. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Woodrow Whitaker, Robert Whitaker, Raymond Whitaker, and Guy Whitaker.

The graveside service for Mrs. Hill will be held at 10 o'clock on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens, 11020 Two Notch Rd, Elgin, SC. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. Following the graveside services the family will be hosting a celebration of life.
