Neva Siever Burley, 95, of Elgin, died at Generations of Batesburg on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. Born in Coots Store, Virginia, on November 6, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Perry and Ada Whetzel Siever.
Neva dedicated most of her life to being a homemaker for her family. Excelling in home arts, she was a talented seamstress, crochet artist and crafter.
However, the kitchen was Neva's favorite place. Her cooking and baking talents were enjoyed by many. After years of dedication to her special needs daughter, she decided to pursue her CNA so she could continue to help others. Neva's favorite hobby outside of the home was tending to her garden. There is no doubt Neva had a green thumb, her vegetable garden was bountiful year after year, and her flowers were the envy of her friends. Neva found joy in creating with her hands and taking care of others. Though often quiet and reserved, her kindness and love made an impact on everyone she met. Her strong faith and love of Jesus was witnessed by all.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen Getz Harmon (Lee); grandchildren, Lauren Harmon Hensley (Paul); and Ryan Livingston Harmon; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Lynn Getz; husband, Marvin D. Burley; siblings, Ernest S. Siever, Edith Campbell, and Ola Tusing.
The funeral service for Mrs. Burley will be held at 5 o'clock, Friday, July 2nd, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, with Rev. Eric Fink officiating. Burial will follow the service in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Special Olympics South Carolina or Alzheimer's Association South Carolina Chapter.
