Mrs. Nina Calvitt Beckham Sharpe, 88, of Columbia, passed peacefully from her earthly residence to her eternal home on Sunday, September 08, 2013. Born July 20, 1925, in Norway, SC, she was a daughter of the late Percy Calvitt and Polly Onley Calvitt.

A graduate of Willow High School Class of 1944, Mrs. Sharpe worked as a switchboard operator for C & S Bank, then the Department of Mental Health, and retired from the DMH records department. She was an active member of Belmont Baptist Church for more than 48 years.

Survivors include her son, William Dennis "Dink" Beckham; stepdaughter, Peggy Dubes; grandchildren, Brandi Beckham, Jennifer Kleine, Jason Wayne Beckham; great grandchild, Hannah Lucas; sisters Alice Morgan, Annie Lou Morgan, Margie Woods, Emma Calvitt; brothers, Sam Calvitt, Palmer Calvitt; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Calvitt and Brenda Calvitt; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard Beckham, and Roy Sharpe; son, Richard Wayne Beckham; sisters, Mary Hamilton, Martha Ann Calvitt; brothers, Claude Calvitt and J.R. Calvitt.

The family extends appreciation for support of her church and friends, Tri-County Hospice, doctors and nurses, and the special love and care given by her niece Susan Calvitt.

A funeral service for Mrs. Sharpe will be held 11:30 o'clock, Tuesday, September 10th, at Belmont Baptist Church, with The Rev. Brenda Lynn Kneece officiating. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:30 o'clock.
