Norma Jo-Anna Maynard

Norma Jo-Anna “Jo” Maynard, 76, of Blythewood, died on May 20, 2026. Born on June 14, 1949, in Atlanta, Georgia, Jo was the daughter of the late Norma Boyd Denson. She was the beloved wife of 44 years to Edgar Louis “Mike” Maynard, Jr.

Jo was a dedicated and supportive Army wife who faithfully stood beside her husband throughout his military career. She was deeply involved in her community and proudly served as Vice President of the Officers’ Wives Club while living in St. Louis. Jo enjoyed shopping, playing piano, singing, and all things Disney. She also had a love for retail management and worked for several department stores throughout her life, including Rich’s, Boscov’s, and Kohl’s. Above all, Jo treasured her family and the many memories they shared together, especially her play dates with her granddaughters.

She is survived by her husband, Edgar Louis “Mike” Maynard, Jr. of Blythewood; daughter, Michelle Allison Maynard (Brian Lindsey) of Columbia; grandchildren, Anastasia Lindsey, and Fraya Lindsey; and her beloved cats, Mischief and Snuggles.

The funeral service will be held at 12:30PM on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Shives Funeral Home, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext. Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home, beginning at 11:30AM until 12:30PM. The committal will follow the service at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
