Norman Miles Tisdale

Norman Miles Tisdale, 78, of Columbia, died on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Born in Spartanburg SC, on July 10, 1947, he was a son of the late Charles W. and Miriam Easler Tisdale. Mr. Tisdale was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and later graduated from Wofford College before earning his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of South Carolina. His professional career was spent in banking. After retirement, he enjoyed getting together with banking friends for lunch to talk about days gone by. Norman also spent his time traveling between Columbia and Spartanburg as well as Edisto Island, which was a special place for both him and his wife. He was a longtime member of Northeast Presbyterian Church.

Norman is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Cathy Mancke Tisdale; daughters Anna Tisdale Locke (Sidney) and Pamela Tisdale Birks (Tom); granddaughter, Bailey Ballentine and brother, Norris Tisdale (Brenda); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Maxie and Carroll Tisdale and a son-in-law, Brad Ballentine.

The service for Mr. Tisdale will be held at 1 pm on Monday June 1, 2026 at Northeast Presbyterian Church. Visitation will precede the service at the church beginning at noon. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
