Olin McKinley Brown, 82, of Columbia, died Monday, July 10, 2017. Born September 14, 1934, in Camden, SC, he was a son of the late McKinley and Mones Rogers Brown. Mr. Brown served in the US Army from 1952 until 1961 and fought in Korea. He married his sweetheart, Molly Stokes, on June 6, 1954. Mr. Brown was a member of Capital City Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Molly Stokes Brown; son, Joel Brown (Jean); daughter, Wendy Brown Higgins (Troy); grandchildren, Zachary Higgins, Sari Shryaks, Abby Trujillo, Joshua Brown, Alex Brown, and Gavin Brown; and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Betty Brown Brown, Donnella Brown Reynolds, Nancy Brown Sharpe, Frances "Tilly" Brown Hanson; and a brother, Jerome Brown.

The funeral service for Mr. Brown will be held at 11 o'clock, Wednesday, July 12th, at Capital City Baptist Church, 2243 Percival Road, Columbia, with Reverend Paul Monroe officiating. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 o'clock. Burial will follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
