Olin Delano Davis, 81, of Prosperity, S.C. was called home to be with his Lord on Sunday, August 19, 2018. Born on November 8, 1936, in Columbia, S.C., Mr. Davis was the son of the late Daniel Bruce Davis and the late Saluda Bell Starnes Davis.
Mr. Davis served in the Army National Guard for nine years. He was employed by the United States Postal Service as a Tour Superintendent and retired in 1992 after over 30 years of service. In his earlier years, Mr. Davis served as a deacon at Harrison Road Baptist Church and, for over 50 years, was blessed to serve and call St. Andrews Baptist Church his home. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and loved experiencing all of God's creation.
Surviving are his loving wife of over 60 years, Theresia Kampa Davis; daughters, Tammy Davis Bales and Sharon Davis Bailey; son-in-law, Scott Bailey; grandchildren, Matthew Davis Wilson (Angela), Erin Bailey Zubkoff (Steve), Jason Davis Huber, Kelsey Elaine Bailey and Trey Davis Huber; great-grandchildren, Levi Wilson, AnnMarie Lucas, and Baby Zubkoff; brother, Dean Davis (Sondra) and sister, Carolyn Florence (Hugh). Those who remain were truly blessed to call him husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was predeceased by his brothers, Larry Davis and Dickie Davis, along with a son-in-law, Jim Bales.
The Service to Celebrate the Life of Mr. Davis will be held at 1 o'clock on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at St. Andrews Baptist Church, 230 Bush River Road in Columbia, with Dr. Ronald "Dee" Vaughn and Rev. James A. Goudelock presiding. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at noon. His burial will take place immediately following at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens, 2606 Two Notch Road in Columbia. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
