Olive Jarvis Jones, 100, of Columbia, SC died peacefully, Saturday, November 21, 2015. Born in Scranton, North Carolina on November 29, 1914, she was a daughter of the late William Walter Jarvis and Blanche Watson Jarvis. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by both her husband Royce Jones; and her son, Sterling Jones. Survivors include her sister, Kathryn Barnes; her extended family, and the many lives she touched with a smile, a laugh, or her heartfelt concern. She attributed her longevity to "living a good life."

Mrs. Jones retired after 44 years of nursing, starting at the original Pitt Memorial Hospital, and finishing with 17 years in the college infirmary at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. She was a member of Spring Valley Presbyterian Church.

A graveside service will be held 11 o'clock, Friday, November 27th at the Spring Valley Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden with The Rev. Dr. Jack Heinsohn officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church atrium. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
