Pamela Leigh Wheat Prim of Lexington passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023. Pam graduated from Keenan High School in 1975. After earning an associate degree in Radiology from Midlands Technical College in 1977, she began her 46-year career at Richland Memorial Hospital, first as a radiology technician in the emergency room and later in the heart catheterization lab, and finally, as a cardiovascular outcomes analyst. She later obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Administration from MUSC.
Pam had a strong work ethic, deriving much satisfaction from furthering her knowledge in her field and from helping people every day. She had a special gift of communicating with animals, and she had a series of furry and feathered friends throughout her life. She also maintained interests in photography and astronomy, and she enjoyed viewing celestial wonders through her telescope with her friends in the Midlands Astronomy Club.
Pam is survived by her husband of thirty-six years, Mr. Lloyd Prim of Lexington; a daughter, Mrs. Katherine Prim Davies (Tom) of Chapin; her mother, Mrs. Pauline Wheat and sister, Ms. Peri Wheat, both of Columbia; a niece, Mrs. Kelly Wheat (Jeremy); her best friend, Mrs. Patricia Popovich of Columbia, and many cousins and extended family.
The memorial service for Mrs. Prim will be held at 2 o'clock on Saturday, May 20th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the reception.
