Patricia Ann Mitchum Carrigan, 58, of Columbia, died Monday, January 8, 2018. Born December 20, 1959 in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Odell Mitchum and Corine Hussey Mitchum. Patty, as she was known by her family and friends, was the only daughter in a houseful of boys, and was spoiled rotten by them all. Her love of children encouraged her to open a day care, and to later work with preschool and kindergarteners at Byrnes Academy.

Survivors include her children, Michael Garner Carrigan, Jr., and fiancé, Kristen Gena Harrison, Kimberly Elaine Carrigan; grandchildren, Michael "Jude" Carrigan and Piper Arden Carrigan; significant other and caregiver, David Gillespie; brothers, Robert W. Mitchum (Denise) and David M. Mitchum (Terri); mother-in-law, Irene Garner Carrigan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Garner Carrigan, Sr.; brother, Thomas Odell "Tommy" Mitchum, Jr.; and a nephew, Thomas Michael Mitchum.

A service of celebration will be held 1 o'clock, Saturday, January 13th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, with The Rev. Mac Kinnett officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12 o'clock.
