Obituary

Patricia "Patsy" Moore Brown, 84, of Columbia, SC died November 6th, 2022. Patsy Moore Brown was born December 31, 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee. She was the daughter of John Henry Moore and Opal May Moore. She was a quintessential Southern lady. Patsy was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. She loved her family, friends, church, and community.

For over 50 years, she was dedicated to her husband Alec's dental practice where she greeted patients and served as the office manager. During this time, Patsy was also an active mother and grandmother and gifted interior designer. She was loved and admired for her beauty and strength by her many friends.

Patsy was an avid reader and Carolina Gamecock fan. She loved to dance and sing silly songs. Her grandsons, Drew and Reese, were her heart. She was so happy to have grand-daughter-in-law Kylie join the family. By example she inspired others to do the right thing. She will be remembered for her unselfish love and devotion to God and her family. She loved fashion, décor, art, and floral design. She loved to entertain in her home, where each event was elegant and festive due to her attention to detail. Her home was always welcoming and often filled with flowers from her yard. She was a member of Bay Blossom Garden Club.

Patsy was active in her church and steadfast in her faith. As a member of Forest Lake Presbyterian Church, she served as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon and Elder. She also served on many committees. Her love and vision were instrumental in the design of the Church Parlor. She was a loyal and active member of her circle and of Presbyterian Women.
Patsy will be missed but will live in our hearts: "God gave us memory so we may have roses in December." (J.M. Barrie).

Survivors include her daughter, Teresea Mathis (JT); wonderful grandsons, Dr. Andrew Thomas Mathis, and Lt. Harrison Reese Mathis (Kylie); and many special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Patsy was preceded by her husband, Dr. Alec E. Brown; her siblings: John H. Moore Jr., Edward C. Moore, Ronald Moore, Robert Moore, and Dolores Moore Roberson (Bobby); and Alec's siblings: JW Brown (Faye), Raymond Brown (Virginia), Carl Brown (Lib), Cecil Brown (Sybil), Kathleen Parker (Hugh), Thomas Brown (Claire), Alene Hawkins (Paul), Annie Lee Marion (Bill), Bernice Dombrosky (John), James Brown Jr. (Grace), and Leland Brown (Kathryn).
