Paul Bryant Johnson, 77, of Columbia died February 8, 2018. Born in Washington, DC, on March 5, 1940, he was the son of the late Carl and Ruth Calvertt Johnson. Paul graduated high school from Fort Union Military Academy and held both a B.A and Master's Degree from the University of South Carolina. Proudly serving in the United States Air Force, he retired after 2 Combat Tours in Vietnam and 22 years of total service to his country. Paul served as the Director of Human Resources for the South Carolina Department of Public Safety and worked as an Adjunct Professor at USC. He was a former Senior Warden at St. Michael and All Angels' Episcopal Church and a devoted member of St. David's Episcopal Church.

He was respected by all who knew him and was a man of integrity and leadership and was involved in community service wherever he lived. He enjoyed sports and golfing with friends. His marriage of love and honor to his wife, Lynn Doyle Johnson, lasted over 50 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Donna Clarke (Page); nieces, Ginger Clarke and Brandi Walker (Chris); and a great-nephew, Christian Walker.

The service for Mr. Johnson will be held at 1 o'clock, Tuesday, February 13th, at St. David's Episcopal Church, 605 Polo Road, Columbia with the Rev. Fr. William D. Brock officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be held 1 o'clock, Wednesday, February 14th Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
