Paul Douglas Miro

Paul Douglas Miro (DOUG), 78, of Camden, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 13th. He was born on April 4th, 1948, in Newington, Connecticut to the late Paul A. Miro and Virginia Fenner Miro.

Doug spent his life doing what he loved most. He served honorably in the US Navy and during his time there he met and married the woman who would be the true love of his life. After active duty, he went on to be a Navy Reservist until he retired with honors. He built a meaningful career as a Mason and was a true Master of the Craft. He was known by his colleagues for his work ethic, humor, and for his dedication to a job well done. Outside of work, he was deeply passionate about Baseball, his side projects around his home, and he was also an avid reader. He could often be found reading a book in his favorite chair or, if the weather was right, in his hammock. Above all, his greatest joy was his family, and he always demonstrated his love through his acts of kindness, willingness to drop everything to help in any situation, and a good joke was always ready if he thought that you needed cheering up.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Jeanne. He is survived and dearly missed by his children, Paul D. Miro of New Shoreham, RI and Ryon E. Miro (Kristen) of Columbia, SC; his grandchildren, Emma, Walker, Carolyn Jeanne “CJ”, Mason, and Robbie; siblings, Dan Miro, Debra Cota, and Dorryl Herold; his girlfriend and companion, Carolyn Hicks and a host of extended family and lifelong friends who will carry his memory forward.

The services for Mr. Miro will be held at a later date and will be private. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
