Pearline C. Bozard, 67, of Elgin, died Monday, June 17, 2013. Born September 17, 1945, in Barnwell, SC she was a daughter of the late Ezra and Lizzie Neevels Chavis. Pearl was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Pearl (Paul) Scott of Barnwell, Sarah Odom, and Catherine (Eddie) Scothorn, all of Elgin; sons, Henry (Amber) Odom, Jr., and Joe (Patricia) Odom, all of Barnwell; a brother, Marion Chavis of Bamburg; grandchildren, Everette Odom, Ashley Kuykendall, Brittany Heatwole, Josh Odom, Bridgette Powell, Angel Adams, Taylor Kuykendall, and Christopher Owens; great-grandchildren, Savannah Heatwole, and Celsey Odom; and the love of her life, Billy Pittenger of Elgin. In addition to her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by a sister, Erma Grubbs; brothers, Herman, Wade, Vastine, Dave, Allen, and Isadore Chavis.

The funeral service for Mrs. Bozard will be held 11 o'clock, Thursday, June 20th, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, with The Rev. Dr. Robert Winburn and The Rev. Barry Spears officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
