Obituary
Peggy Smith Dawkins, 72, of Columbia, died Saturday, January 22, 2022. Born February 11, 1949, in Columbia, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Julian and Mary Ellisor Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Donald Dawkins, Sr. Mrs. Dawkins was the matriarch of her family. She took great pride in being an excellent wife, mother, and nanny.
Survivors include her three children, Tammy L. Dawkins (Bruno), Wayne Dawkins, Jr., and Shaun G. Dawkins. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Bruno and Hanna Velasco, as well as Hayden and Madison Dawkins.
The funeral service for Mrs. Dawkins will be held privately. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
