Mr. Peter Adelman, 57, of Columbia, passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 16th. Born in Norwich, Connecticut, on February 1st, 1960, to his father, the late Murray Adelman, and his mother, Barbara Kaufman. He leaves behind four sons: Avram, Isaac, Jacob and David, and a brother, Eric Adelman. In addition to his father, he is predeceased by a sister, Beth Reed. He was also a devoted grandfather to five grandchildren. Peter was an Army veteran, serving overseas in Germany and Korea. He was the recipient of multiple meritorious medals of service. After military service, his career trajectory took him on a wide path. Notably, he was a teacher at the Camden Military Academy – where he had been a student himself. More recently, he found himself at the Staples Corporation, where he worked in payroll as an industrious and exemplary employee for the last nine years.Peter was a devoted student of history. He achieved a master's degree in Jewish Studies, and was an avid collector.

Funeral services for Peter will be held at Arcadia Lakes Cemetery, 1401 Arcadia Lakes, Columbia, SC 29206 at 9:30 AM, on Sunday, October 22nd. We also invite family and friends to attend a gathering afterwards. It will be held at 1 PM at 2228 Forest Drive, Camden, SC to celebrate his memory and life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beth Shalom Synagogue, 5827 N. Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC 29206. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
