Peter (Panayiotis) A. Romanos, 71, of Mint Hill, NC, formally of Boston, MA and Helleniko, Greece, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015. Born on January 1, 1944, he was the son of the late Athanasios Romanos and Alexandra Ninou Romanos. Peter immigrated to Massachusetts in 1969. He deeply valued education and was a lifelong student, receiving degrees in Business Management, Finance and Administration, and Computer Science and Technology. Because of his diligence and dedication, Peter had a prosperous professional career in Real Estate Management.
Peter was the loving husband of Aphroditi Romanos; devoted father of Alexandra C. Romanos of Stoneham, MA, as well as Alexandra (Amarantidou) Rivera and her husband, Reinaldo Rivera of Columbia, SC; affectionate grandfather of Aphrodite I. Rivera and Charles H. Romanos; brother of Marianthi Vassiliou of Agios Demitrios, Greece; and a cousin, uncle and friend to many.
Peter's favorite saying was something his grandfather, Zaharias used to tell him "Luck has to happen two times. First you have to be lucky that the opportunity visits you and second you have to be awake to know that the opportunity has visited you." This saying embodied Peter's enthusiastic and resilient spirit. Peter will always be remembered as a smart, funny, animated and spirited man by those who knew him, and his strong presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him in Greece and North Carolina, as well as Massachusetts, including his former spouse, Kathleen A. Thornton Romanos of Stoneham, MA.
A funeral service for Mr. Romanos will be held at 10:30 o'clock, Thursday, December 3rd, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1931 Sumter St., Columbia, SC, with The Rev. Fr. Michael A. Platanis officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. The family extends special thanks to the staff at Novant Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte for their care and support.
