Phyllis Ann Jordan (née Mengle), 80, of Columbia, died on Saturday, July 6th, 2024. Born in Norristown, Pennsylvania on December 24, 1943, she was a daughter of Philip John and Anna Kieres Mengle. She attended Bishop Kenrick High School and was a graduate of the St. Joseph's Nursing School in Reading, Pennsylvania. She worked at Egleston Children's Hospital after graduating. Later in life she worked as a risk management consultant and her last job was as a consultant for the US Department of Justice.
She was a loving mother and aunt. She spent considerable time caring for her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ashby Miner Jordan, Sr. Survivors include his sons, Ashby Miner Jordan, II (Lisa Sabol Jordan) and David Sean Jordan and grandchildren, Jacob, Claire, Rachel, Ashby III, Landon, Hailey, Savannah; her sister Bernice Coessens and her brothers, Robert Mengle (Margaret Cunningham Mengle) and Gary Mengle (Bobbi St Aubyn Mengle) as well as many special nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mrs. Jordan will be held at 11:30 o'clock, Wednesday, July 10th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. Burial will be held following the service at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia.
The family will receive guests from 5 until 7 o'clock, Tuesday, July 9th, at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ashby M. Jordan, II, David S. Jordan, Jacob Jordan, Ashby M. Jordan, III, James Jordan, and Brian Mengle and honorary pallbearer will be Matthew M. Jordan.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be given to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 375 Kings Highway North, Suite B, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
