Obituary

Ralph Henderson Blackmon, 82, of Gaston, South Carolina, died on Monday, July 21, 2025. Born on December 22, 1942, in Columbia, he was a son of the late Charles Edward Blackmon and Emily Irene Dawkins Blackmon. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an electrician for many years with AT&T and H.R. Allen. Mr. Blackmon was a devoted husband as well as a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was faithful member of Hidden Valley Baptist Church in Gaston, South Carolina.

Survivors include his daughters, Ellen I. Ellsworth (Shaun) of Swansea, SC, Deree B. Ward (Dave) of Hardeeville, SC, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Helen Byrd Blackmon and his brother, Kenneth E. Blackmon.

The funeral service for Mr. Blackmon will be held at 12 o'clock noon, Friday, July 25th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, with the Rev. Charles Starling officiating. Burial will follow the service in Union Baptist Church Cemetery, 1177 Wildwood Ln, Elgin, SC.

The family will receive guests prior to the service beginning at 11 o'clock.

Memorials may be made to Hidden Valley Baptist Church Building Fund, 121 Casa Dell Road, Gaston, SC, 29053.
