Rashie Kennedy, Jr., 87, of Columbia, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024. Born in Duplin County, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Rashie Kennedy, Sr., and Myrtle Mercer Kennedy.

Mr. Kennedy was a graduate of Greenville High School in Greenville, NC and earned his bachelor's degree in general ministry from Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, TN. He perused a career in radio engineering and retired in 2000. Throughout his career, he worked for Billy Graham Christian radio and the Columbia Christian radio station WMHK. Mr. Kennedy enjoyed toy trains, circuses, and music. In his earlier years, he sang in a quartet and obtained his pilot's license. He had a love for all sports and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

With a true servant's heart, his family was everything to him and especially his wife, Jerry Charlotte Howard Kennedy. He and Jerry shared a strong marriage of devotion and support to each other from 1968 until her passing in 2019. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Columbia, SC, for many years, regularly serving behind the scenes wherever needed.

Survivors include his son, Randall Joel Kennedy; daughter, Julia Kennedy Allen (Edward); grandchildren, Elisabeth, Victoria, Benjamin, Isabella, Shelby, Katie, and Payton; and brother, Beverly Kennedy. In addition to his loving wife and parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Hilda Grace Mills.

The Graveside Service for Mr. Kennedy will be held at 2 o'clock on Saturday, February 3rd, at Memorial Gardens of Columbia, 9301 Wilson Blvd, Columbia, SC. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
