Ray Drake Seay entered eternal rest on July 11, 2026 after a long battle with dementia and failing health. Ray spent many years of his adult life caring for his mother. He loved participating in train clubs, attending Biker Church, and gardening. Ray was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Chapin. He is a 1967 graduate of Chapin High School after attending A. C. Flora.
Ray is survived by one sister, Nancy Seay Sellers of Chapin, two brothers, Billy Seay of Waterloo, and Mark Seay (Chris) of Forest Acres, and one brother-in-law, Bob Ziemer. He is predeceased by his parents, James Thomas Seay, Sr. and Nell Drake Seay, one sister, Gloria Seay Harmon Ziemer, and one brother, James Thomas Seay, Jr.
June 8, 1948 was a glorious day for the Seay family. A little boy joined his parents and four excited siblings. He was an energetic toddler with shinny dark brown hair and sparkling dark brown eyes. His baby brother Mark, showed up the next year and they were constant companions through childhood and adulthood until Ray's final breath on July, 11, 2026.
An intimate family gathering will be held on Saturday, August 8th from 4:00 – 6:00 at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel.
