Columbia: Raymond W. Glanton, 86, of Columbia, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012. Born October 11, 1926 in Greenwood, SC he was a son of the late Abbie F. and Sadie Irene Dow Glanton. A member of Suber Marshall Memorial United Methodist Church, Mr. Glanton served his country as a Marine during WWII.
Survivors include daughters, Nancy Gail Ballentine, Verta Love (Andy); grandchildren, James Arthur Ballentine, Jr. (Sara), Tina Thompson (Doug), J.W. Creamer, Jr. (Tiffaney), Connie Hall (Heith), Michael Ross, and Danielle Fordham (Clif); eleven great grandchildren; brother, Gene Glanton (Bobbie Jean); and sweetheart, Ruth Wilson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Reese Glanton; daughter, Vicki Ross; and granddaughter, Laurette Ruth Ballentine.
A Celebration of Life for Mr. Glanton will be held at 2 o'clock, Monday, October 29, 2012 at Suber Marshall Memorial United Methodist Church, 3900 Live Oak Street, Columbia with The Rev. Phil Reynolds officiating. Mr. Glanton will be placed in the church at 1 o'clock. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 o'clock, Sunday afternoon at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia.
