Mrs. Reesie Mae Raines, 90, of Columbia, died Friday, September 5, 2014. Born November 21, 1923, in Lester, SC, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Theodore Linton and Ollie Ree Polk Linton. Mrs. Raines was a member of Eau Claire Baptist Church for over 45 years and of the Whatca Doin' It Club at Earlewood Park.
Mrs. Raines is survived by her loving husband, Furman Raines; daughters, Shirley Bennett, and Janice Padgett (Tommy); sons, Donald Bennett; James Raines, and Kenneth Raines; grandchildren, Melissa Booth (Jamie), Jeff Harrell (Andrea), Phil Padgett (Allison), Chris Raines, Eric Raines, Melissa Raines, Troy Raines; six great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and brother-in-laws, Joe Raines (Sue), and Clarence Raines. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Wanda Bennett; son, Gene Raines; brothers, Crosland "Jimmy" Linton, and Cleveland Linton.
A funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock, Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at Eau Claire Baptist Church, 4427 N. Main St., Columbia, 29203, with The Rev. James A. Goudelock officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Dr., Columbia.
