Regina "Gina" Floyd Barchiesi, 70 of Columbia. SC, the wife of the late Alessandro Barchiesi passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
Mrs. Barchiesi was born in Columbia, SC on December 26, 1953. She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Josephine Floyd.

After graduating Cardinal Newman High School, she went on to study English at Columbia College. While at Columbia College, she enjoyed tutoring high school students in the language arts. After graduating, she started her first teaching job in Bennettsville, SC, at the local high school. The following year, she returned to Columbia as an English Teacher at Cardinal Newman High School. In 1980, she began a second career at Blue Cross Blue Shield. During her 33 years of service, she developed cherished friendships that continued many years after retirement.

Gina enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling with her late husband and talking with her neighborhood friends. She will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her family and her beloved dog, Ginger.

She is survived by her sister, Lisa Hahn (Frank) of Columbia, SC; her nephews; Fraser Hahn (Becca) of Charlotte, NC, Matthew Hahn (Joanna) of Atlanta, GA, and Luke Hahn (Bailey) of Columbia, SC; and her great-niece, Fallon Hahn.

A visitation will be held at 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext. Columbia, SC 29223. A private burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to honor Gina's life may be given to a charity of one's choice.
