Carole Renee Rosser Wright, 77, beloved wife of William Paul Wright of Columbia, lost a valiant, brief fight with lung disease Thursday, April 6, 2017. A celebration of her love-filled life will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 10, at St. Martin's-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, Columbia.
Renee was born Jan. 7, 1940, in Atlanta, Ga., to Harmon and Anne Rosser. A graduate of North Fulton High School who also attended Agnes Scott College, Renee had made Columbia her home since 1993. Prior to coming to Columbia, she had lived in Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Louisiana and New York. Her children loved to note how skilled she was at packing boxes and moving furniture.
For the past 15 years or more, she translated that skill into a business, Estate Sale Service. Any number of families in Columbia will attest to the compassionate and detailed way in which she helped them depart with the possessions their loved ones left behind. The work was her passion as her library of books about antiques indicates. There were few things a telephone could not help her accomplish in her work. She once tracked down Shelby Foote, noted Civil War historian, to discuss an item in one of her sales.
In addition to her loving husband and their precious dog Zack, Renee is survived by a gaggle of children and grandchildren. Children include daughter Allison Renee Buice Askins and husband Bob of Columbia; son John Brittain Buice of Mt. Pleasant; daughter Anna-Lee Wright of New York City; daughter Geseke Brandis of Hamburg, Germany; daughter Debbie Wright Grabeldinger of Birmingham, Ala.; son Steve Wright and wife Cheryl of Chicago; and son Jean Claude Harris and wife Roz of New York.
Grandchildren include Andrew Askins of Charleston, Abby Askins of Columbia, Anna, Harry, John and Sara Frances Buice of Mt. Pleasant, Madison Grabeldinger of Birmingham and Rusty Wright of Chicago. Renee is also survived by two dear sister-cousins, Judy Newton of Tucker, Ga., and Mary Alice Gorley of Greensboro, Ga.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Henrietta Egleston Hospital for Children, 1405 Clifton Road, Atlanta, GA 30329. Renee remained forever grateful to the staff of Egleston who saved her son Britt's life when he was an infant.
Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
